Steven Smith is a product of the Rangers youth system. Sadly his carer at the club has been over shadowed by injury which has resulted in his place in the first team limited. The left back has also played as a left midfielder for cover in the tail end of the 08/09. He's played for us since 2004 but ever since he sustained that injury against Celtic in the 1-1 draw in December 2006, he's never been the same. He made two appearances in the cup in 2008 and played 6 very important games in the run-in for our 52nd title. We won 5 of the 6 but he didn't really make a big impact in any of the games. He announced he will leave the club at the end of the season because of a lack of games. He's a Rangers supporter and he would love to stay for the rest of the his career but he got tired and frustrated of playing one game here and there instead of showing us what he's capable of by playing a run of games in his natural position. He looked to have a bright career ahead of him and if you were to say in 2006 what fullback was to move to the Premiership for £9million, you would choose Stevie and not Hutton. His only goal came against Dunfermline and he would be the ideal signing for an English Championship club. He has aspirations of joining fellow Murray Park graduates and playing for the Scottish national team. In the summer of 2010 his contract ran out and he joined Norwich City.
