Owen, Adam
From RangersPedia
Adam Owen joined Rangers shortly after the current management team was employed at the start of 2007, having previously worked with coach Kenny McDowall at Celtic.
A former player himself, the Welshman started out as a trainee at his hometown club Wrexham.
He then featured in the League of Wales for the likes of Newtown, Cefn Druids and Connahs Quay Nomads and represented his country in the British University Games.
It is the degree in Sports and Exercise Science Owen earned while he was playing, however, which has allowed him to make further progress in football.
He first came to Scotland in the 2003/04 season to work at Parkhead as an under-17 and under-19 coach.
Combined with his role there, Owen had a short spell playing for East Stirling but he soon joined Sheffield Wednesday as their first-team fitness and rehabilitation coach.
It was at Hillsborough that his path crossed Madjid Bougherra's and he was later to play a part in the Algerian's transfer to Gers from Charlton Athletic.
Of course, Owen beat the defender to Ibrox as he moved north of the border once more in March 2007 and has become an important member of the backroom staff.
He plays a key role in building the players' fitness then maintaining it both before the season and during it and his methods have won him widespread credit.
