Steven Naismith was the most talented young player in Scotland at the time Rangers signed him. He came through the Kilmarnock youth system and had a trial with Arsene Wenger's Arsenal before signing for Rangers in the final minute of the 2007/08 transfer window. He made his debut in the last seven minutes against Gretna and scored his first goal in the 3-0 win over Aberdeen. He made his Scotland debut against Faroe Islands, just before he signed for us.
Some see him as a great young talent whilst others think he won't make it at Rangers. He is primarily a striker but it looks as if he will have to fight for a place out wide, considering the form of Miller and Boyd up front in the two striking slots.
2008/2009 Season
The 2008/09 season was basically a write off for him. He was injured for most of it and came back in the Cup match against St Johnstone. He wasn't really seen until next year though.
2009/2010 Season
The 2009/10 campaign started off brilliantly for him. He looked as fit as he had been for years and scored against Nuremberg after a great run and finish. Having a proper pre-season looked as if it would give him a chance this season and he scored in the first game of the season at Ibrox. He won a penalty in the last minute in the next game against Hearts, which Kris Boyd stepped up to score. The only real other match he excelled in was at home to Sevilla where he was the lone striker. Since then though he's been injured and only now is he coming back from injury. He has this ability to fall over all the time which you may have noticed!
