Rory Loy began his career at Kilmarnock in 2004, before being snapped up by Rangers. He made his first appearance for Rangers against Inverness in 2008. Loy signed a contract keeping him at Rangers until 2011.

In December Loy joined Dunfermline until 26th of January, he impressed and this was later extended to the end of the season. He played 18 games for Dunfermline and just scoring three goals. On 29 January 2010, Loy joined St. Mirren on a six month loan deal.
