David Lavery, known to the players and backroom staff as Disco, has taken a fairly unconventional path to Rangers.

A taxi driver from the age of 18, it wasn't until he was well into his 30s that he decided to pursue a career as a masseur.

Having qualified in 2000, he began working with the Light Blues two years later and initially had a role in the youth department.

After serving at that level with former Gers coaches John Brown and John McGregor, he was given responsibility for the first-team squad.

Lavery took up his current position - one he describes as his dream job - in 2003 and has been at the thick of title triumphs, cup wins and some near misses since then.

A popular figure behind the scenes, massage isn't his only duty and that actually accounts for less than half of what he does.

Lavery is also tasked with setting up equipment at the start of each day and is always one of the first to arrive at Murray Park in the morning.

Working closely with kit controller Jimmy Bell, he spends more time at the training ground than most and is a dedicated worker.
