This song became particularly relevant during the 07-08 season when the SPL refused to extend the league season further to help out a team from their country. The Russian FA postponed Zenit's league fixtures but Rangers were forced to finish the season playing 5 competitive, and must win games in 10 days. It is widely regarded that the fixture congestion, at the end of a gruelling 68 game competitive season was a contributing factor to both Rangers losing the SPL title race, and UEFA Cup final. Surely the SPL regret this decision considering the performances of Scottish clubs in Europe since?
